Yekatit: Ethio Jazz marks a milestone in Mulatu Astatke's discography, featuring tracks recorded in Addis Ababa with his regular club band. This compilation album, spanning from 1969 to 1972, showcases the talents of soloist Feqadu Amde Mesqel on tenor saxophone and the soulful guitar work of Andrew Wilson, who hails from Rhodesia. Wilson is notably the only non-Ethiopian member in the lineup. Reissued on Heavenly Sweetness, this album stands out as a shining example of belle époque Ethio-Jazz.
